2017. Every day. (04.02.17)

 I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I'm documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

So, welcome to (April) 2017!

This week could be summarized as "by myself"....

04.02.17
After a weekend out of town I had some MBA catching up to do and a paper due Sunday night. This is the view from sitting at my computer no matter what I'm working on, usually there are a couple of toys right beside me as well for rounds of fetch.

{04.02.17 - Bonus}
Sunday included a lazy morning, before getting ready and attending the memorial service for one of my bestie's mom. I have a hard time with funerals, but, showing up in moments like this is what matters most.  I'm grateful for my besties and fierce about those friendships; oftentimes just showing up is the greatest things a friend can do for me, and I try to do that for my friends. Even on the hard days when you feel like you'd rather not have to show your face.

04.03.17
Social media is a funny thing, it's interesting to me what posts get comments and which ones get nothing.  And, apparently my friends like cereal for dinner or late night snacks too.  For me it was dinner. I had a big work lunch, so wasn't really hungry. This is also #singlegirl perks. :)

{04.03.17 - Bonus}
Monday night I spent time at my desk again, catching up on my blog and after a 3 mile walk, Auggie was crashed out while I was working.

04.04.17
My current MBA class has a quiz every week, so I'm usually reading after work before class so the material is fresh for me.  If you've read here long, you've maybe read that reading comprehension was never my scholastic achievement and I require notes and studying and re-reading and more. So far so good though, I've made 100's on those quizzes. Auggie's expression pretty much sums up my thoughts on these quizzes.

{04.04.17 - Bonus}
Aside from class on Tuesday I was home every night of the week, and I think Auggie was pretty happy about that, and long walks too! Also, I love the portrait setting on my iPhone!! #framer

04.05.17
The entire week was gorgeous blue skies and as I left a meeting headed back to work I was stopped to turn and looked over to see these flags, so beautiful blowing in the wind. I had to snap a pic. We can often get caught up in the politics and wrongs of the days, but we are so blessed to live under this flag, and that flag still stands for freedom. I'm grateful every day for those who fought and fight for our freedom.

{04.05.17 - Bonus}
Fun floral shoes vs. blah conference room carpet.
In case you missed it, lots of what I wore is on my blog, click here.

04.06.17
Thursday evening I was home and had the door open enjoying cool evening and the sunset.  I love  this view and definitely enjoyed the week with lots of home time and down time.

{04.06.17 - Bonus}
Yep, it's Auggie again. Just me and him this week. He naps so hard.

04.07.17
I love a nap on Friday after work, but I might love a massage even better.

{04.07.17 - Bonus}
Wild Friday night.  Sometimes Auggie looks big, but he's really pretty small and every now and then climbs up in this spot on the couch and naps.

04.08.17
Highlight Day. I love the hair salon, no one makes you feel better about yourself than the hair washing ladies. This pic response is funny, "can't believe you put that as a pic"; hey this is my year of a photo a day, and this is one of my favorite treats - usually twice a year.  So, lookout, another one of these might appear in November or so. :)

{04.08.17 - Bonus}
Saturday I had nothing planned before my hair appointment, so sat on my patio with coffee, breakfast and magazines for a couple of hours and soaked up the perfect spring day. This was also the 2nd Saturday of 2017 I was home with pretty much nothing planned, except my hair appointment.
I went to the pool for a bit in the afternoon and finished this book, which I started last year at the pool. Not sure why I never finished it, but I've read a bunch of books in between. This is one of the top 5 books I've read in life. Definitely recommend it.
So many great points about people needing people.  Not just as couples/romantic relationships, but just needing community and people in general. And, needing God. It's how we were created to live. This was one of my favorite paragraphs and one of several corners I turned down in this book, mostly because I didn't have a highlighter at the pool.

And, Auggie was super cute on the porch, so here's a couple of bonus favs of him from Saturday....

Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!

5 years down the road of twists and turns....

I've been thinking about this day approaching...5 years later....

...and how much has happened in those 5 years.

I can still remember the boss who walked into my office....
"Angie, we're going in a different direction, and we're not going to use this position anymore. You'll get a severance."

If you would have asked me April 3, 2012 where I would be in 5 years, it certainly wouldn't be here. I couldn't even have dreamed the road I've ended up on.

I've blogged about these twists and turns a few times....

When all my boxes were turned upside down and ultimately everything I owned stored in boxes for an unknown future.  (click here)

The year I spent on the road, living just like a gypsy.  (click here)

And, just when I thought I was getting settled and my car was stolen, which was symbolic for so many other things. (click here)

Finishing a year of teaching school, and the last of the tests I had to take.  (click here)

The only thing that stays the same, is thing change. (click here)

And, tomorrow, it could all change again.
Lord willing it won't.
But, it could.

And, I know that my faith and hope remains in Jesus.
Not in a job.
Not in a place.
Not in a person.
Not in things.
This is who I am.
HIS.

He goes before me.
NOTHING surprises him.

Because of the road I've walked I've learned to let go of past, and look to the future.

So many things are out of my control.
But, I know who's got control.

I am HIS.
He is not moved by the world.
HE controls it.
Not some boss of mine.

I've drank from everyone of these cups over the last five years.
And, I know I will drink from each of them again.

Every one of them has taught me a lesson.

I'll never stop dreaming.
I am blessed.
A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.
(and sometimes you have to fake smile through it)
My faith will always carry me.
Never stop gaining wisdom.
Patience - for my time is not always His.
Give myself and others grace.
Relax. Enjoy the ride.

I am HIS.
He's got me.

And, where this road has led?
I like it.

Commit 30: March

In case you missed it in January, I'm taking 2017 in 30 day increments (well, sometimes 30, or 31 or 28) and committing to something for 30 days.

March....Photo every day of what I wore.
A couple of years ago I blogged my outfits weekly, and I've had some friends ask me about what I've been wearing and what happened to  those blogs. So, I thought March would be a good month to take pics and blog what I wore.

Of course with Rodeo, I got a little behind on the blog...but, they are all posted now, and linked in this post too!

Number one...I wear a lot of leggings.

Click here for March 1st - 7th

Number 2....I repeat those leggings.

Click here for March 8th - 14th

Number 3...basics will always be a favorite for me.

Click here for March 15th - 21st

Number 4...sometimes no makeup, sometimes clown makeup.

Click here for March 22nd - 28th

Number 5...only once did I forget to take an outfit pic.  #grace

Click here for March 29th - 31st

Since I took a pic every day...know what else I did??

Made my bed. Every. Day.

I always "straighten" my bed in the morning, even though I don't move much or mess up the sheets, but don't always make my bed. But, I did this month, because otherwise my pillows block my mirror.

And, during Spring Break I switched my bedding from my winter/Christmas buffalo check bedding back to my regular bedding. Perfect light and bright update to my room for Spring!
#eventhoughIdidn'tSpringClean

So, that was my Commit for March
Photo every day of what I wore.

Now for April.
Stay tuned for the end of month reveal.

What would you commit to for 30 days?
I have several things I have thought of, but would love to hear some other ideas.

Spoiler Alert: October will be #write31days.
Yes, I'm already thinking about a topic.

#commit

What I Wore 03.29.17

It's been a while since I've done the weekly "What I Wore" posts, and I've been asked about them, so thought I would blog outfits this month, and this post rounds out the month!

03.29.17
Work + Errands + Dinner
Top is from Marshall's last summer, cardigan is last season Old Navy and pants are Gap, this is pretty typical work outfit for me. I met my Mom this day for lunch, and she took Auggie home for a couple of days while I was going to be out of town. I went straight after work to run a few errands and meet girls from Polished for dinner.  I changed in my car to this white tank from Target, Arden B jeans (do you see a habit here) and Keds slip ons. I took a cardigan because sure enough the restaurant was cold. Also, I took off my jewelry (which was the same as day) before I took pics when I got home. Ooops.

03.30.17
Work + Texas Antiques Week
Top is Gap (Tall sizing) from years gone by and pants are new from Banana Republic (I really love this fit - see them here. Also, 1) Flares - are you surprised and 2) NEVER buy full price at Banana, Gap or Old Navy, they ALWAYS have a sale of at least 40% off).  Headed straight from work out to Warrenton for Antiques Week and worked in the Zapp Hall Cafe sporting my new Cheers to 30 Years Zapp shirt, jeans from Marshall's and cowboy boots, flannel night time is from Stash, a vendor at Antiques Week.

03.31.17
Texas Antiques Week
Well, here's the end of 31 days of What I Wore...was out at Antiques Week, so borrrowed a mirror from a vendor. Zapp Hall T, jeans from Target, Asics, and flannel from La Vida Loca.
Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!

2017. Every day. (03.26.17)

 I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I'm documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

So, welcome to (March) 2017!

03.26.17
Last day of Rodeo Houston and I got to meet Miss Rodeo America. I love her story - she's is our Miss Rodeo Texas and won Miss Rodeo America in December during the National Finals Rodeo. She's got roots in a dairy farm, was a High School Ag Teacher, and is such a great advocate for both education and agriculture, also founding principles of Rodeo Houston.  She's as beautiful inside as she is outside and it's fun to watch her year!  I have a few friends on the Miss Rodeo Texas committee, and way back in the day competed in that contest myself. Rodeo royalty will always be a favorite!

{03.26.17 - Bonus}
So long Rodeo Houston 2017 - you sure were a fun 25 days from first day of BBQ cookoff to the last rodeo performance & concert!

03.27.17
Monday night, at home. Amen. Both of us were equally happy for a walk, and some couch time. But, no rest for the weary, the week ahead is full!!

03.28.17
Signs of returning to routine, having been to the grocery store to stock up on my breakfast items. I eat breakfast most days at work, yogurt with cheerios and a piece of cheese. However, during Spring Break and Rodeo...I got way off my routine! #whataburgerladyknowsmybreakfastorder

03.29.17
Wednesday was one of those days heavy on my heart all day. My bestie Stacy lost her mom Tuesday night, a few other things were going on. A treat in the midst of it was lunch with my Mama, where we got to sit and visit for quite a while as we waited out a rain storm to pass.  Lots of tears on this day.
Stuff. Life. He is still good.
Always.

03.30.17
Right on the heels of Rodeo this year was Texas Antiques Week. This is another one of my favorite events in Texas, happens every fall and spring. We worked the kitchen lines Thursday until 11:30 pm, but with lots of laughs and fun! Thankful for the Zapp Hall crew who is framily to me!

{03.30.17 - Bonus}
And outside under the stars, the Junk Gypsy Junk-O-Rama Prom with John Evans Band!

03.31.17
Friday we were back in the Zapp Hall Cafe taking orders (Annalee) and filling drink orders (me).  She's the dearest kind of friend and her 3 littles are the cutest little table runners and helpers around!

{03.30.17 - Bonus}
My view from the tea window - an absolutely beautiful Texas spring day!

04.01.17
No April Fool's here, one of the best haven's you kind find on a back road in a small town is Royer's Pie Haven. And, their Antiques Week pop-up coffee shop at Junk Gyspy Headquarters?? Genius! Also, that "Nitro" coffee...which was iced coffee poured over Blue Bell ice cream. Perfect treat to end of the weekend in Round Top for me!  Tara is such a dreamer, encourager, influencer and friend. I'm  thankful for these little towns and those I've met along their roads!

{04.01.17 - Bonus}
And, then we were home. Auggie spent 3.5 days at my Mom and Dad's and he was worn out. We both slept about 10 hours on Saturday night!

Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!

What I Wore 03.22.17

It's been a while since I've done the weekly "What I Wore" posts, and I've been asked about them, so thought I would blog outfits this month.

03.22.17
Work + Walk + Rodeo
Back to work from Spring Break and extra days off...top from Marshall's last summer, black pants are Gap and royal blue cardigan from Nordstrom several years ago. Weather is definitely warming up, tank from Target and 3/4 length leggings are TJ Maxx. They have the best selection, but you have to try them on - a few brands are better fit than others, also some don't have key pocket. I went to Rodeo this night to sit and watch the rodeo & concert. Top is from Forever Cowgirl found in Vegas and jeans are years old Gap favs.

03.23.17
Work + Walk
Polka dot top is from Target, yellow loose weave cardigan is from Nordstrom, black crop pants are Gap, and floral pumps are Guess found at Ross. Oh, wear that outfit above for 15/20 minute walk, I'm definitely wearing it again for another walk.

03.24.17
Work + Rodeo Committee Party
Floral top is from Old Navy and stripe pants are Gap from 10 years ago (checked the tag because I always get asked about them). Nude pumps are Nine West, which are my very favorite brand of heels. For the party, this is a repeat from NFR in Las Vegas. Squash necklace is from Cattillac Style - Rui Doso, top is Lush from Nordstrom, leggings are from Francesca's and faux fur is Mossimo collection from Target at least 7 or so years ago. Booties are BCBG that I pray never  wear out because they are favorites and I can't find any like them!!
Here's a closer look at the details of jewelry, earrings as seen before are La Vida Loca.

03.25.17
Breakfast + Rodeo Contest + Rodeo
I forgot to snap a pic (the only time of the whole month) when I went to meet my friend for breakfast, but it's a Saturday and you can guess what that entailed (white t, fleece, leggings, no makeup, etc.). Headed out to the Rodeo for my last contest in a Gap button-down (Tall women's fit), jeans are by Adiktd found in western stores and I also had on my other vest most of the day and this one for the evening after the contest was over.

03.26.17
Church + Walk + Rodeo
Ummm...lazy church outfit. T from our Women's ministry event, cardigan from Target and Arden B jeans with Keds slip ons.  #dontjudge.  Walk in leggings, and tank. Out for final Rodeo Houston performance in white button up from Hollister, necklace from Accessorize in Style, jeans are Ashley Mason found at Marshalls and boots are Dolce Vita found at TJ Maxx. It's hard to beat a white or black top and jeans. Will always be a favorite for me!!
Here's a closer look of the necklace.

03.27.17
Work + Walk + Dinner
Long cardigan is Old Navy, stripe sleeveless button up is Banana Republic, necklace is La Vida Loca, white pants are Gap and shoes are DSW. Walk in tank from Walmart and leggings (Northface for $15) from Marshall's. Added Columbia 1/2 zip pullover to head out for a dinner with some girls from church.

03.28.17
Work + Walk + Class
Scarf is a boutique find, 3/4 sleeve denim jacket from Lucky Brand, skirt is Target. I love florals and sripes. Walk in Danskin tank from Walmart and SHSU Bearkat alma-mater shorts by Nike.  Another OTHS T (long sleeve Ts are my fav) and Arden B jeans for class, I was almost running late this night to class!
Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!
