What I Wore 03.22.17

It's been a while since I've done the weekly "What I Wore" posts, and I've been asked about them, so thought I would blog outfits this month.

03.22.17
Work + Walk + Rodeo
Back to work from Spring Break and extra days off...top from Marshall's last summer, black pants are Gap and royal blue cardigan from Nordstrom several years ago. Weather is definitely warming up, tank from Target and 3/4 length leggings are TJ Maxx. They have the best selection, but you have to try them on - a few brands are better fit than others, also some don't have key pocket. I went to Rodeo this night to sit and watch the rodeo & concert. Top is from Forever Cowgirl found in Vegas and jeans are years old Gap favs.

03.23.17
Work + Walk
Polka dot top is from Target, yellow loose weave cardigan is from Nordstrom, black crop pants are Gap, and floral pumps are Guess found at Ross. Oh, wear that outfit above for 15/20 minute walk, I'm definitely wearing it again for another walk.

03.24.17
Work + Rodeo Committee Party
Floral top is from Old Navy and stripe pants are Gap from 10 years ago (checked the tag because I always get asked about them). Nude pumps are Nine West, which are my very favorite brand of heels. For the party, this is a repeat from NFR in Las Vegas. Squash necklace is from Cattillac Style - Rui Doso, top is Lush from Nordstrom, leggings are from Francesca's and faux fur is Mossimo collection from Target at least 7 or so years ago. Booties are BCBG that I pray never  wear out because they are favorites and I can't find any like them!!
Here's a closer look at the details of jewelry, earrings as seen before are La Vida Loca.

03.25.17
Breakfast + Rodeo Contest + Rodeo
I forgot to snap a pic (the only time of the whole month) when I went to meet my friend for breakfast, but it's a Saturday and you can guess what that entailed (white t, fleece, leggings, no makeup, etc.). Headed out to the Rodeo for my last contest in a Gap button-down (Tall women's fit), jeans are by Adiktd found in western stores and I also had on my other vest most of the day and this one for the evening after the contest was over.

03.26.17
Church + Walk + Rodeo
Ummm...lazy church outfit. T from our Women's ministry event, cardigan from Target and Arden B jeans with Keds slip ons.  #dontjudge.  Walk in leggings, and tank. Out for final Rodeo Houston performance in white button up from Hollister, necklace from Accessorize in Style, jeans are Ashley Mason found at Marshalls and boots are Dolce Vita found at TJ Maxx. It's hard to beat a white or black top and jeans. Will always be a favorite for me!!
Here's a closer look of the necklace.

03.27.17
Work + Walk + Dinner
Long cardigan is Old Navy, stripe sleeveless button up is Banana Republic, necklace is La Vida Loca, white pants are Gap and shoes are DSW. Walk in tank from Walmart and leggings (Northface for $15) from Marshall's. Added Columbia 1/2 zip pullover to head out for a dinner with some girls from church.

03.28.17
Work + Walk + Class
Scarf is a boutique find, 3/4 sleeve denim jacket from Lucky Brand, skirt is Target. I love florals and sripes. Walk in Danskin tank from Walmart and SHSU Bearkat alma-mater shorts by Nike.  Another OTHS T (long sleeve Ts are my fav) and Arden B jeans for class, I was almost running late this night to class!

2017. Every day. (03.19.17)

I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I'm documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

So, welcome to (March) 2017!

03.19.17
Sunday morning I caught up with my friend Leigh for a few minutes between services at church. She and I met last summer when a mutual friend invited her to a Bible Study at my house. It is such a God story of her being able to attend that study as she was in the midst of chemo treatments for Breast Cancer.  She is thankfully in remission, getting back to the swing of life, hair is growing back (though she looks amazing with a pixie cut) and starting to find her post-cancer "normal". I've learned so much from Leigh as she's shared her story and recovery as well.  She's also had so many opportunities to share her cancer story and her faith, I know  that she is encouraging so many women who are walking in the shoes she has. I'm thankful for friends like this that teach me so much!

03.20.17
Monday was our Livestock Judging day for my rodeo committee, and we had a record number: 2,011 students participated in our contests in one single day. It's a long day, starting around 5:30 in the morning and finishing around 6pm, but it is one of my favorite days of the year!  These guys have been a huge help to me these last 6 years as I was a Captain over this contest and then Vice Chairman. Grateful to get to work long days aside long time friends!!

{03.20.17 - Bonus}
Group shot of (most of) our committee who worked on Monday!

03.21.17
I started my second class of the semester today and we did one of those personality quizzes. Yes, I am "gold" pretty much exactly!!  The only things I didn't agree with in my professor's description was "you like to do things the way they have always been done". I'm a logistics, efficiency, planner, thinker and if there's a better/faster/more efficient way to do something, I'm all about that!!

03.22.17
I had some reading to catch up on and went out to lunch by myself with my Kindle app and enjoyed lunch on the patio and some down time in the midst of a hectic week getting back to work and wrapping up the Rodeo.

03.23.17
I went to the rodeo with a couple of friends, we sat to watch the whole rodeo and concert and it even made it on TV! ha!  I ended up at the rodeo 16 of 20 days, but only got to sit and watch the rodeo & concert a handful of times.

03.24.17
Friday night was our committee Donor Appreciation Party and every year Tina, Christa and I take a party pic. They are wives of former Chairman of my commitee and dear friends too.

03.25.17
I love the rodeo because I get to see so many friends I don't see often throughout the year. I met Karrie when I was in High School and she was in college and living with one of our neighbors. I tagged along to college rodeos, dog sat for her, and spent many a night at her apartment my first year in college. I was in her wedding and we have kept in touch through all these years. The last couple of years we have gotten to hang out on Saturday morning for a long visit, which is such a treat!

{03.25.17 - Double Bonus}
Karrie is a lover of animals and has a special place for dogs. She was a dear friend who checked in on me often after losing my Barney, and celebrated big when I brought Auggie home. So, it was fun for her to get to meet Auggie on her trip to Houston, and he showered her with lots of attention and no boundary for personal space. :) Thank you Karrie for the fun toy for Auggie too!

Scott and I have known each other close to 20 years, and Saturday we finished up 3 years working together, he was our committee Chairman and I was a Vice Chairman.  This was right after our last contest ended, awards had been handed out, everything picked up and officially done with duties for this rodeo season! Three years have flown!

Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!

What I Wore 03.15.17

It's been a while since I've done the weekly "What I Wore" posts, and I've been asked about them, so thought I would blog outfits this month.

03.15.17
Breakfast + Walk + Rodeo
It's Spring Break week so  that means lazy mornings and no makeup!  I met a bestie for breakfast in uniform: Columbia fleece, white t and leggings. All of these pieces are years old.  Afternoon walk with Auggie, changed to a tank - this one from Junk Gypsy. And, evening out to the Rodeo, shocking in a denim shirt (Gap - men's pearl snap), pants found on a porch in Warrenton during Antiques Week several years ago and boots!

03.16.17
Errands + Rodeo
Thursday of Spring Break...slept in, headed out for a few quick errands and then home and ready for going out to Rodeo. Black top is WAYF, picked up at TJ Maxx and jeans are years old by Seven For All Mankind. #longliveflares, boots are leopard print from Liberty Black - even though you can't really see them.
Here's a close up of jewelry...
earrings from La Vida Loca, bracelet from Junk Gypsy and stack ring is from various boutiques and Pandora.

03.17.17
Walk + Lunch + Rodeo
I took Auggie on an early walk in the trifecta (fleece, white t and leggings), and yes, that's Columbia again, and no I don't get paid to wear that.  But, they are good quality and I wear them all the time! Since it was St. Patty's I needed to be wearing green...T for lunch from Harp Design Co in Waco (Mom and I met Clint Harp when we went there), flats from Target and jeans are from Arden B, at least 10 years ago. I have no idea if that store even still exists. Out to the Rodeo in yep, denim shirt, and shorts (both Old Navy), cactus duster from Dusty Diamonds Boutique and suede boots are Dolce Vita from Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2014.

03.18.17
Rodeo Contest + Home + Rodeo Party
I went out to a contest my committee was hosting in Cruel Girl shirt and jeans, brand can be found at Cavender's, Boot Barn or other western stores. Belt is vintage from Junk Gypsy and boots are from a western store in Oklahoma City.  I got to come home for a couple of hours and since Auggie wasn't here I hit the couch in a favorite pj romper from Target.  Saturday night I went out in denim. Yep - that's 3 days this week, sequins and tall boots. Tunic is years ago from Banana Republic, skirt is from La Vida Loca (found during Antiques Week) and boots are Dolce Vita from TJ Maxx (probably originally from somewhere like Nordstrom). :)
Here's closeup of jewelry...
Cross necklace is La Vida Loca, no idea about earrings, white feather bracelet is Noonday Collection and other necklaces are from boutiques over the years.

03.19.17
Church + Rodeo Contest + Rodeo Dinner
Sunday I went from church straight out to the Rodeo (Auggie was at the Grandparents), so dressed for the day, all day. Shirt is Target and tiny polka dots even though you can't see it. Belt is from boutique my bestie's Mom owned, prob got that belt in 2000 or 2001 and jeans are by Adikd - again at western retailers. Necklace was one I found online several years ago. If you want a sweet vest like this, you'll have to join a Rodeo Committee. :)

03.20.17
Rodeo Contest
This day is my biggest contest, over 2000 students came through to participate in Livestock Judging. I wore another Cruel Girl shirt & jeans, comfy shoes by Twisted X and then changed later to Gap button up and boots. I also had my vest above on from about 7am - 6pm. Also, these pics were taken at 5:00am heading out the door and 11:30pm when I got home.  Long day, but one of my very favorite days.

03.21.17
Rodeo Awards Breakfast + Home + Class
Jacket is from Anthro double clearance 2015, shirt is Lush from Nordstrom and jeans are Cruel Girl. Shoutout to my old school where the track T's were always the best. Those gray sweats are Lucky Brand and well over 10 years old, a definite favs. Added a cap, sweater and changed into Arden B jeans for class. Shoes are Keds. Love them.

2017. Every day. (03.12.17)

03.12.17
Sunday I went to church, then out to a Rodeo contest and then made it home for some couch time late afternoon. I think Auggie was glad to have me home too.  Also, this week is Spring Break week! Amen!! But, I do have to set the alarm a couple of mornings.

{03.12.17 - Bonus}
Every year in Texas when the warm weather starts showing up more consistently, the chatter about the heat and such starts. But, every year during Rodeo Houston there will be one more cold snap, and it happened to be this weekend, even though the Rodeo was later this year. It was still super cold, for south Texas and I got another wear out of my TJ Maxx Patagonnia bargain coat!

03.13.17
Nothing says Spring Break fun like $1000 trip to the Endontist and Dentist. #saidnooneever However, if you have to have a root canal, she was an amazing Dr and never did the shots hurt or she hurt me during the whole procedure. I've long heard horror stories of root canals, so was pretty nervous going into this one...but, thankfully it wasn't bad at all.  In fact, I was able to go browse the giant Home Goods/TJ Maxx right down the road after.  #priorites

03.14.17
Tuesday night I participated in one of my favorite Rodeo Houston events, the Lil Rustlers Rodeo hosted by the Special Children's Committee. I met this sweet girl, who's favorite color is pink, and my rodeo clown costume immediately caught her attention! So grateful to get to volunteer for events like this through the Rodeo, and it is such a blessing to see these kids having so much fun! Also, Tuesday morning I had a follow up Dentist appointment, that didn't go quite as smoothly as Monday. In fact, the shots had me in tears and my mouth was pretty sore after. But, thankfully I was able to rally for this event.

{03.14.17 - Bonus}
Just the little Auggie dog hanging out.

03.15.17
One of my very favorite things to do on a holiday is meet for breakfast, so was so glad to get to meet my school bestie that I taught with and her littles for breakfast and a 2-hour visit mid-morning. Such a treat.

03.16.17
There aren't too many people I keep up with from High School, but KK was my bestie growing up, we were pretty inseparable in High School. She came down to the rodeo with her husband and daughter (the 2 boys were otherwise busy) and it was great fun to spend most of the evening with them. Also, for all my Rodeo Houston years, I've never had a pic in the barrel photo station! #firstimeforeverything

{03.16.17 - Bonus}
Speaking of High School, when I was a Senior I won the title of Walker County Fair and Rodeo Queen in my hometown. Friday night prior to crowing we were in the rodeo grand entry and I can remember Boyd Polhamus (photo below, right) announcing the contestants, and then on Saturday night again in the rodeo grand entry Boyd introduced me for the first time as the 1994 Walker County Fair and Rodeo Queen. It's always a treat to get to see Boyd while he's in town announcing Rodeo Houston. Every year we laugh and tell stories of the WCFA rodeo days, it was a great PRCA rodeo back then and I have so many great memories from those days! Thank you to my friend Dan for connecting me to say hello to Boyd a few nights a year.

03.17.17
Got to have lunch with 2 of my college besties,  we were missing one from our group who was away for a church retreat.  And, ironically, we met on the very same day last year!

{03.17.17 - Bonus}
Friday night we had a committee gathering in the Rodeo Wine Garden,  these are a few of the people I get to volunteer with for 21 contests JCC hosts during Rodeo Houston!

03.18.17
Little Auggie headed up to the 4G for a couple of days.  He's getting more relaxed in the car, and will lay down some now. But, getting started and when we exit the freeway, he's up and looking around, riding shotgun like a boss.

Thank you for reading, and would love for you to stay in touch!

What I Wore 03.08.17

It's been a while since I've done the weekly "What I Wore" posts, and I've been asked about them, so thought I would blog outfits this month.

03.08.17
Rodeo Contest + Rodeo
Wednesday morning I left my house at 6am and I got home Wednesday night about 11:30! All day long in my jeans, boots and committee vests, and aside from about an hour or so, in my cowboy hat! Denim on denim. Again. Shirt is Old Navy (b/c I can order in a Tall) and pants are Cowgirl Tuff, found at stores like Cavender's or Boot Barn.

03.09.17
Work + Walk + Rodeo
Work was simple...Target sweater, Banana Republic Tank, Gap pants and flats. Quick walk with little Auggie in of course Nike tempo shorts and a long sleeve T.  Thursday night to Rodeo, layers of pearls!  These jeans are Seven For All Mankind and from 8 or 9 years ago. And, I've worn them all these years, even when flares were "out". Blazer is Target, crop tank is Urban Outfitters from few years ago and belt is a souvenir from my year of working on the road. It's an old horse shoe on a leather girth strap.

03.10.17
Work + Home
We had flannel Friday at work (click here), which was also last day before Spring Break. Amen.  Flannel is Old Navy (ordered online in Tall), pants are Banana Republic trouser jeans pants, Gap metallic belt and leopard heels are Jessica Simpson collection. Friday night at home, couch and took my class final in my uniform: Hanes T and Nike tempos.

03.11.17
Car Shop + Rodeo + Out
Saturday morning I hopped up and went to get my car worked on....oil change, inspection and new wiper blades. Then out to the Rodeo with Mom and Dad. Shirt is Target several seasons ago from clearance rack, pearl necklace is Loft outlet, jeans are Marshall's Calvin Klein and boots are years old picked up in Oklahoma City. They are on their 3rd soles. :)  Saturday night changed to black Lush top from Nordstrom - written about it several times, same jeans and boots are from Nordstrom anniversary sale 2014.

03.12.17
Sunday...Church, in the nursery with the little babies. Gap jeans and leopard fringe booties are Liberty Black, found at Junk Gypsy store. Sunday Best sweatshirt is from Hello Grace, found on Instagram. Spent majority of the day in my Patagonia coat as it was cold and I was at our Meat Judging contest, so in a meat locker. Took Auggie for a quick walk when I got home in standards...Columbia fleece, dri-fit and C-9 from Target leggings.

03.13.17
Root Canal + Walk + Home
I started Spring Break with a bang...root canal!  Wasn't  so bad. I don't get dressed up for things like this...another Columbia fleece and those same leggings I had on for about 30 minutes yesterday are good enough for me to lay in the dental chair for an hour. Got home and took a nap. Sun came out today, hooray, so Auggie and I went for a walk. Then I did several things around the house...Columbia vest, T is from a school event.
#notsponsoredbyColumbia #butifyouknowsomeone

03.13.17
Dentist + Rodeo + Lil Rustlers Rodeo
Back to the dentist early Tuesday am that was a sweet forever long appointment, but done. Again, got up and threw on clothes to go lay upside down in the dental chair. Camo leggings are TJ Maxx, black shirt, cardigan and scarf all Target and fake Uggs are by Bearpaw.  Changed slightly for a walk into Hanes t and Columbia fleece, which is my fav for walks if haven't seen that enough by now in two weeks time. Tuesday night I headed out to the Rodeo, jacket is years old from BP at Nordstrom, Don't Stop Believin T is by The Light Blonde, found at Royer's Pie Haven, jeans are Marshall's from Jr section and boots are Dolce Vita found at TJ Maxx. Had a slight change into Rodeo Clown for Special Children's Lil Rustler's rodeo, then back to other outfit to hang out again.  I'm assuming no one is planning to dress up as a rodeo clown and you don't need to know where all of those items are from. Though, this is an easy Halloween costume for littles!
